About the Campaign

Duke University and Duke University Health System provide significant, ongoing support to Durham’s schools, neighborhoods and non-profit organizations. Every year, the Doing Good in the Neighborhood campaign invites Duke employees to join that effort by donating to one or more of six giving options. Whether big or small, your donation to Doing Good in the Neighborhood makes a difference in our community.

Doing Good in the Neighborhood emphasizes donor choice, so you decide how your gift improves quality of life in Durham and the Triangle. You can give through Duke Community Giving, through United Way of the Greater Triangle, or both.

Through this campaign, faculty and staff can contribute to a host of local agencies supported by the Duke-Durham Neighborhood Partnership and Duke University Health System through Duke Community Giving as well as to the United Way of the Greater Triangle.

Duke Community Giving allows you to make a difference in Durham by donating to programs and organizations supported by the Duke-Durham Neighborhood Partnership and Duke University Health System Community Initiatives. There are no administrative fees, so every dollar of your donation goes directly to local programs.

The five general categories for Duke Community Giving are:

  • Partnering with our Schools
  • Supporting our Young People
  • Supporting our Neighborhoods
  • Partnering for a Healthier Durham
  • Community Care Grant Fund

Donating through the United Way of the Greater Triangle allows donors to give to a range of non-profit organizations supported by the regional United Way, or to a general fund that meets the most pressing needs in Durham, Johnston, Orange and Wake counties. There is a 16% administrative fee for United Way gifts.

Details about the 2010-2011 campaign and your giving options can be found throughout this site. You can now make a contribution online through payroll deduction or credit card to support organizations in our community.
