When you donate through Doing Good in the Neighborhood’s Duke Community Giving options, you can rest assured that your dollars are put to the best possible use in the community.
For donations made to Partnering with Our Schools, Supporting our Young People, Supporting Our Neighborhoods, and Partnering for a Healthier Durham, funds within each category are equally divided among the organizations listed in that category.
All beneficiary organizations must submit a detailed proposal and budget indicating how they plan to spend their Doing Good in the Neighborhood funds. A committee of Duke staff members uses a rubric to review and vote upon each proposal. Proposals that do not meet the committee’s standards are returned to the applying organization, which is given an opportunity to reapply using guidance provided by the review committee.
Donations to the Community Care Grant Fund are distributed to a different group of community-based non-profit organizations each year. Applicant organizations must be nominated by a Duke University or Duke University Health System employee who volunteers with that agency.
Proposals are ranked by the Duke employee committee, and awards are made to the strongest proposals.
All gifts received during the 2010-2011 campaign will be distributed in two cycles, one in June 2011 and another in December 2011. Visit this site throughout the year to see how your donations are making a difference.
