Durham, NC — Duke University and Duke University Health System are halfway through the 2010-2011 Doing Good in the Neighborhood (DGIN) campaign, with almost $400,000 pledged to local organizations so far by Duke employees. The campaign, which kicked off Sept. 2, will wrap up on Oct. 31.

Donors can also choose to give through United Way of the Greater Triangle, which supports a host of agencies throughout the region.

If you already give directly to an organization with which you volunteer, consider leveraging that gift through Doing Good in the Neighborhood. Beginning this year, DGIN donors who volunteer with area non-profits will be asked to nominate those organizations to apply for a Community Care Grant. A committee of Duke employees will review and the applications, and approved non-profit organizations will receive awards of up to $2,000.
