Each year during the month of October, the Duke Doing Good in the Neighborhood fundraising blitz collects donations from Duke employees to support organizations working to improve the quality of life in the Triangle. This fall, 1,973 employees raised $265,727, and, counting pledges, expect to raise $644,558 by July 2019.

Employees choose from seven giving categories: Health, Neighborhoods, Schools, Youth Empowerment, United Way of the Greater Triangle, Community Care Fund and the newest category, the Emergency Relief Fund. Created in response to recent natural disasters in the region, donations to the Emergency Relief Fund will support hurricane recovery efforts through the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund.

“We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our Duke colleagues, and we are proud of the many ways our institution and our employees engage with community. I want to thank all of the employees and leaders who help make this project successful.” said Dr. Stelfanie Williams, Duke’s Vice President for Durham Affairs

Duke employees still can contribute to the campaign to help provide needed funds for local organizations. Employees also can get involved by volunteering by contacting our office at doinggood@duke.edu or visiting the Office of Durham and Community Affairs volunteer page here.
