About: Healthy Families Durham, based in the Center for Child & Family Health, offers early childhood intervention services through an intensive home visiting program designed to reduce child abuse, improve parent/child interaction, and increase parenting skills. Healthy Families Durham provides in-home services to clients, who are pregnant, or parenting infants or young children, in an effort to prevent child abuse and neglect in families with multiple stressors.
2016-17 DGIN funding helped meet basic needs for families enrolled in Healthy Families Durham, including transportation, groceries and essential household goods. Funding also supported their pilot Circle of Security program, a group model for improving parenting practices that enhances attachment security between parents and children.
