About the Durham Literacy Center:
The Durham Literacy Center is the leading adult literacy non-profit organization serving Durham County. Our mission is to empower Durham County residents who want to improve their lives and the lives of their families by improving their literacy skills.
Since 1985, we have served more than 16,000 people in our Adult Literacy, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), and Youth Education Programs, in addition to projects that we operate in partnership with many other agencies across Durham County. We work in collaboration with, and complement the work of, Durham Technical Community College. The Durham Literacy Center utilizes research-based instruction and best practices. We have been recognized as an Agency of Excellence by the United Way of the Greater Triangle and have won multiple awards throughout our 30-year history.
