Duke employee contributions support special projects designed to meet the needs of the Hispanic community in Durham. El Centro Hispano works to strengthen the community, build bridges, and advocate for equity and inclusion for Hispanics in the Triangle. As of July 2016, 13.4 percent of Durham County’s population is Hispanic, according to the City of Durham.
DGIN funding goes toward El Centro Hispano’s general operations as well as supports the organization’s Direct Support Services program, which helps community members connect to health, education, employment, family and law services.
