About: Kidznotes’ mission is to change lives through ever-expanding participation in youth orchestras, bands and choirs. The Kidznotes pilot program launched in 2010 with a class of 60 students grades K–3 from three Title-1 public schools in Durham. In 2011, Kidznotes introduced woodwinds, brass, percussion, violas and cellos to returning students to create the nonprofit’s first youth orchestra. In 2012–13 and in 2013–14, Kidznotes expanded into three Title-1 elementary schools in Wake County. Since the two sites’ respective inceptions, Kidznotes Durham has served a total of 607 students grades K–10 and Kidznotes Raleigh has served a total of 218 students grades K–6 (825 students overall).
2017-18 DGIN funding will help purchase violins for newly enrolled kindergarten students.
