About: Marbles Kids Museum inspires imagination, discovery and learning through extraordinary adventures in play and larger-than-life IMAX experiences. Located in the heart of downtown Raleigh, Marbles serves a diverse population of families, school groups and community organizations with dozens of themed exhibits, daily programs, summer camps, IMAX educational and feature films, and special events year-round. Marbles believes in play as a foundation for academic success and emotional wellbeing as a way to strengthen families and as a tool to build community. Marbles believes strongly in its responsibility to make its unique museum experience available and accessible to all children.
2017-18 DGIN funding will help underwrite the cost of Marbles taking the lead in providing healthy meals to Salvation Army’s Project CATCH (Community Action Targeting Children who are Homeless) families. CATCH has been working with a limited food budget and without the expertise that Marbles has in encouraging healthy eating in kids. Increased funding allows Marbles to take on the burden of securing food and ensures dinners will be delicious and palatable for kids as well as adults. Funding helps underwrite the costs of staff support and programming.
