About: The Orange County Partnership for Young Children has a program, Transplanting Traditions Community Farm, that provides refugee adults and youth access to land, healthy food, agricultural education and business opportunities. The farm provides a cultural community space for families to come together, build healthy communities and continue agricultural traditions in the Piedmont.
2017-18 DGIN funding will support Transplanting Traditions Community Farm’s Youth Leadership Program, which empowers refugee teens to make changes in their own communities through meaningful work with the farm. The Youth Leadership Program is a team of 10 refugee teens ages 13-19. Programming engages teens with multiple aspects of the farm, focused on activities that build cooperation, communication and leadership skills.
